Real Madrid’s English midfielder Jude Bellingham celebrates scoring his team’s third goal during the Spanish league football match between Cadiz CF and Real Madrid CF at the Nuevo Mirandilla stadium in Cadiz on November 26, 2023.

Jude Bellingham scored his 11th La Liga goal of the season as Real Madrid returned to the summit of La Liga with a 3-0 victory away to Cadiz. All eyes will now be on second-placed Girona who are in action Monday night.

A thoroughly professional performance saw Rodrygo star as he opened the scoring for Madrid before doubling the lead in the second half. Then, when star player Jude Bellingham continued his incredible goal-scoring streak to add a third for the 14-time European winners, the game was decided. In the first half, Madrid attempted to make an impression, but at times, they were unable to stave off Cadiz’s relentless pressure. They nevertheless managed to limit the home team to half-chances and led 1-0 at the interval. In the second half, Madrid dominated most of the action and never really seemed like they were in danger from Cadiz.Madrid took advantage of the opportunity to give a few academy graduates first-team playing time, and thanks to goals from Rodrygo and Bellingham, they were able to close the match comfortably. Now that Madrid is getting closer to the relegation zone, Cadiz will be watching closely as Girona looks to shed points on Monday night.

TALKING POINT – MADRID GO TOP. BUT FOR HOW LONG?

Los Blancos are now one point ahead in La Liga after this victory. But, Madrid’s lead might not stay long because second-place Girona plays Bilbao on Monday night. Come Tuesday, Madrid will be back in second place if Girona keeps up their amazing play. How long can Girona compete head-to-head with Madrid, one wonders? Who will be able to stay up with a Real Madrid team that appears to be getting bigger this weekend? Barcelona dropped more points, while Atletico Madrid is still four points behind their city rivals.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH – RODRYGO (REAL MADRID)

There weren’t many obvious opportunities in tonight’s game, but the Brazilian dynamo made all the difference. There was a lot of attacking pressure on Rodrygo because his Brazilian colleague was unavailable, and he definitely delivered. He was a constant threat for Madrid along the left wing during a first half that saw them struggle to create clear openings. While Los Blancos led at the break thanks to his flash of brilliance, which came in from the left before he unleashed an unstoppable curling strike into the top corner. The talented winger kept up his threat as Madrid had the upper hand in the second half. His second goal was nearly a carbon copy of the first, as he burst through the defence once more, leaving no defender in his path and sent the ball into the upper corner. He was unfortunate not to get a second assist as well since in the second half, he set up an open goal for Joselu, who decided not to shoot because he thought he was offside.
